Probably the most popular model of ring from Vermil; it bridges the gap between guarded and guardless rings by having a shallow guard with a V-shaped cutout, allowing for contact with the string while limiting how far it can dig in to the thumb.
This string contact provides a degree of feedback required to learn the correct thumb angle without causing significant pain when you get it wrong, making this ring a great stepping stone for first-time thumb ring users, not to mention a perfectly adequate ring in and of itself.
That said, this ring does warrant a somewhat deep hook, so its release may not be as crisp compared to shallow hook models like the Lantern or Turkish. Purists out there should also note that this design is not representative of any historical thumb ring known.
