As the name suggests, the Turkish is a ring that takes inspiration from the multitude of styles found in and around the Ottoman Empire. In particular, it features a short, steep lip with a notably bulbous/convex outer surface. Overall, an unobtrusive, minimalistic shallow hook ring akin to the Lantern.
The curve of the lip has two main effects. By causing the string to kick out the thumb upon release, it can help to prevent the blow of the string on the thumb tip: a common issue with short-lipped rings. However, the equal and opposite reaction is that the string is also kicked to the side, resulting in a less clean (although potentially still consistent) release.
